Pixar Fest is almost back! With just over a month to go before the festival returns to California’s Disneyland Resort, Disney this week revealed new details about the months-long event featuring beloved characters and stories from Pixar Animation Studios.
This so-called “Friendship and Beyond” celebration is set to feature some returning favorites with special enhancements, as well as several all-new offerings. This includes a parade at California Adventure Park with over two dozen Pixar characters and Club Pixar, which will take over the Hollywood Backlot for an interactive DJ dance party.
Dynamic, colorful floats will march twice daily in this new Disney Live Entertainment parade, with high-energy dancing and appearances by more than two dozen Pixar characters. You’ll see Red Panda Mei and friends swaying to their favorite boy band, 4*Town; Joe Gardner and 22 from“Soul ” celebrating life’s pleasures; and Luca, Alberto and Giulia from“Luca” enjoying their time together by the water in Portorosso. The grand finale will feature Mr. Indestructible and Elastigirlfrom“The Incredibles“, Miguel from“Coco“, Mike and Sulley from“Monsters, Inc.”, and Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear from“Toy Story”.
The nighttime show returns to Disneyland Resort in California with all-new scenes from the creative teams at Disney Live Entertainment and Pixar. Celebrating the heart of Pixar storytelling, this event will take you on an emotional journey of friendship with Pixar friends as they meet for the first time, embark on adventures, overcome adversity and forge everlasting bonds. In addition to iconic moments from the original production – like Miguel playing guitar and Carl and Ellie’s house floating above Beauty’s Castle – you’ll also see new scenes featuring characters and moments from“En Avant”,“Soul”,“Luca”,“Rouge” and“Elemental“.
Vivid projections, colorful lasers and memorable music can be experienced from many locations across the site, including Rivers of America, the“it’s a small world” facade and Main Street, U.S.A. And on most evenings, fireworks will light up the sky and complete the show. As an added bonus, during Together Forever – A Pixar Night Show , your MagicBand+ will come alive with twinkling lights and vibrations synchronized to the music.
During the day at the Hollywood Backlot, you can take a photo in front of Pixar-themed sets, play games and maybe even meet a favorite character. When day turns to night, Club Pixar will take over the area for an evening, inspired by the stories of Pixar animation studios. Your whole group can enjoy an interactive DJ dance party, live performances, games, photo opportunities, themed food and specially prepared drinks.
The whole family is invited to dance and play Pixar-style with some of your favorite characters at the Pixar Pals Playtime Party at Disneyland Park’s Fantasyland Theatre. Get into the groove with a high-energy show, enjoy interactive games, photo locations and activities inspired by Pixar feature films, and even watch a selection of iconic shorts on the big screen.
Foodies are encouraged to get ready for Pixar-inspired food and drinks around the Resort. Disney isn’t sharing full details on the treats just yet, but is offering a first glimpse of an item as the iconic Pixar Fest cake returns to Plaza Inn. New this year, the menu at Troubadour Tavern in Disneyland Park will transform to feature Pixar bites and drinks. And once again, the Paradise Garden Grill in Disney California Adventure will be serving“Coco“-inspired menu items.
From May 10, six Pixar-themed kiosks will join the fun in Disney California Adventure and remain for the duration of the festival. Each location celebrates a unique film, and menu items are designed to transport guests and their taste buds straight to some fan-favorite worlds. Expect summer dishes inspired by the Italian coast at Portorosso Pasta from“Luca”; reimagined classics at Gusteau’s To-Go, a nod to“Ratatouille”; a playful mix of elements at The Elemental Table, inspired by “Elemental“; fun foods perfect for a pre-teen, boy band (or anyone, really!) at 4Town Fav4*ites from“Rouge”; comfort foods that feed your soul at The Spark, inspired by“Soul”; and flavors to satisfy all your emotions at Hanger Management from“Vice-Versa”. The full range of themed dishes will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
At various locations in both parks, you can meet many characters from Pixar stories, including friends from“Vice-Versa” and“The Incredibles“. You might also meet Ember and Wade from“Elemental”, who will be making their debut at the Disneyland Resort in California during Pixar Fest.
To create memorable moments that also satisfy your Disney snack cravings, look no further than Pixar Fest. You may recognize the Pizza Planet truck from… well, almost every Pixar movie, and soon you’ll be able to buy a version that doubles as a popcorn bucket. More Pixar-themed novelties are expected soon.
Brand-new merchandise collections will debut across Disneyland this month, featuring stylish designs inspired by your favorite Pixar films and characters. From Pizza Planet baseball caps to Mike Wazowski T-shirts, items from these collections are the perfect way to get ready for a Pixar-filled summer. What’s more, limited-edition Pixar Fest merchandise will also be arriving in April. You’ll find themed medallions from each of your favorite Pixar films available for a limited time.
Decorations will be popping up all around the two theme parks at California’s Disneyland Resort, including bright banners and sculptures that serve as must-see photo spots. In the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, you won’t want to miss the 25-foot-high sculpture celebrating friendship and featuring the famous Pixar Ball. And in Disney California Adventure, you can even use your MagicBand+ to interact with a Pixar-themed installation.
The festivities will span the Downtown Disney District, with vibrant decorations all along the shopping, dining and entertainment promenade. You can store your favorite merchandise collections, strike a pose in front of photo opportunities celebrating Pixar stories, and when hunger strikes, enjoy Pixar-inspired menus at select restaurants.
