Every year, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party transforms Magic Kingdom into a veritable Christmas story, offering visitors a festive and immersive experience. Held from November to December, this event is a must for Disney and Christmas fans, combining the enchantment of the holidays with the magical world of Disney.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a special evening event requiring a separate ticket. It usually takes place after normal park closing time (6pm to make way for the event) and gives access to exclusive attractions, shows and entertainment. This guarantees a more intimate atmosphere and reduced queues for the attractions.
This enchanting parade features Christmas-themed floats, accompanied by Disney characters dressed in their festive best. Santa Claus closes the parade in an impressive float, leaving visitors in awe.
Under the direction of Minnie Mouse, this fireworks show synchronized with classic Christmas songs lights up the sky above Cinderella Castle. It’s a breathtaking moment that captures the holiday spirit.
Nothing says Christmas like a walk under artificial snow in the heart of Main Street. Decorations, twinkling lights and festive music add to the atmosphere.
Throughout the evening, visitors can indulge in cookies, hot chocolate, cider and other treats, included in the ticket price. The cookies are individually wrapped, so you can take them home if you don’t want to eat them that evening.
Musical and theatrical performances like “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration” and encounters with rare characters, such as Jack Skellington as Santa Claus, make the evening even more special. For the latter, don’t waste too much time waiting to meet a character, as you risk missing out on some of the festivities. Queues are often very long.
Ticket holders can generally enter the park a few hours before the official start of the event, at 4pm, even if the celebration doesn’t begin until 7pm. This allows you to enjoy certain attractions before the festivities begin. This is a good strategy if you don’t have a regular ticket for the day.
For my part, I tested a different strategy , as I also had a day ticket thanks to the current promotion that gave me 4 regular park tickets for less than 3 days. So I made the most of the park from the moment it opened with early hours until lunchtime. Since the park closes earlier on special event days, few people choose to go. As a result, it’s much less crowded and I was able to do all the attractions in the morning with minimal waiting time. Afterwards, I went back to the hotel for a good nap and returned to the park by 5:30 pm.
With so much to see, choose your must-sees in advance, whether it’s the parade, fireworks or character encounters.
My strategy allowed me to attend everything on my priority list, from collecting cookies and beverages at the various stations, to seeing the parade, the two shows and the fireworks. I also got to ride my favorite ride again, Tron Lightcycle Power Runwhich is totally different from the daytime ride, and Space Mountain with its holiday special.
Many visitors sport Christmas sweaters, Santa hats or even Disney-inspired costumes. It adds to the atmosphere and makes for great souvenir photos. Bring a slightly warmer sweater, as evenings are often cooler. I have to say that most people take part, so get in on the fun and do your shopping before you go – it’s more affordable than on site.
She can help you keep track of show times and find treat distribution areas. I used it all evening and it really helped. Beware of the sometimes misleading waiting times for attractions, in both cases it was much shorter than expected. You’ll also receive a special Christmas card for the park.
For dinner, avoid restaurants with table service, as you risk wasting too much time. As far as “quick service” restaurants are concerned, you’ ll need to be flexible, as not all of them are open and menus are limited. Finally, I recommend eating light, because if you don’t, you’ll be sick to your stomach with all the treats!
This event stands out for its ability to capture the essence of Christmas while adding a touch of Disney touch. Whether you’re a child discovering magic for the first time or an adult revisiting your childhood memories, this evening promises unforgettable moments.
